Amazing, if maybe unintentionally, show
I mean this sincerely, this show is amazing. Essentially WandaVision runs through a series of sitcoms starring Wanda and Vision, created from her mind. Most everyone loves that part. Where I think it hits absolute art, is that while people criticize the part that takes place out of the sitcom scenario, I say it's amazing. Basically, they can't avoid criticizing the formulaic nature of the sitcoms, Darcy dunks on how often 50s Wanda does dishes in episodes. But at the same time, the plot happening the contemporary MCU is the most formulaic the MCU has ever been. I can imagine in ten years someone making a second show, cutting in a third universe, so it's a show within a show within a show. The smug dunking is amazing if it's read as self-aware, and only more amazing if it isn't.Unfortunately, Amazon shipped me the steelbook in a plain envelope, and it's a bit crushed. The exchange with Amazon was pretty easy. Was kind of annoyed to see the replacement ship in the same sort of envelope, but it wasn't damaged.

Wandavision is one of the best Marvel titles to come out in recent memory and I love that they decided to put out a physical copy for everyone. Now I can enjoy it with our without a stable internet connection.

Having a Blu-ray works amazing on camping trips in the RV. Just pop it into the player and we can watch some tv before bed!

A terrific series that builds on the events at the conclusion of “Avengers: Endgame” and sets up the multiverse adventure of “Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness”, “Wandavision” finds Wanda living in a sitcom world that has her questioning her sanity at times. Vision, who died at the conclusion of “Avengers: Infinity Wars”, is alive. Wanda and a vision know something is off as they live in their alternate universe with hints of what came before intruding on their world.

Featuring a trio of terrific performances Elisabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Karthryn Hahn, the series deals with the grief that Wanda feels and the joy in her new life with her husband son. As the world begins to unravel, it also reveals a darkness in Wanda that could consume the universe.

The shoes looks marvelous here. Colors pop with HDR bringing out the slightest variation in color. What’s more the visual element as the show progresses features terrific detail. The series looks better than the Disney + presentation. The audio sounds very good with a rich Dolby Atmos mix. Don’t be alarmed early on if you don’t hear much activity; the earliest episodes duplicates the sound presentation of an early B&W TV snow but, as that world changes and switches to color becoming more contemporary, it really becomes exceptional. English subtitles are available.

The six episodes are spread across two discs.

The special features include a featurette entitled “Through the Eras” focusing on the different decades reflected as the snow progresses from one type of TV show to another. We get a gag reel as well as one deleted scene.

A nearly one hour featurette on the making of the series that also aired on Disney+ is also included. The only thing. Issuing that should have been included is a commentary track from the show runner.

“Wandavision” deals with the aftermath of the two preceding Avengers films. Wanda creates a world free of grief and because of it manages to trap those around her. It is a bridge to the next Dr. Strange movie though one doesn’t need to have seen that film to enjoy this series.

Package on an attractive steel book with concept art postcards, the packaging is terrific looking.

I don't like that the UPC isn't printed on the case in this day of too many pirated products. The stories taken from old TV shows was fun. The true test of a show is if I'll want to watch it multiple times. We'll see.

Disney made a big mistake with their Disney Plus series. They made them essential to understanding the movies released in theaters, and then they held them and kept them off the market until long after the move that follows up on the series is released. As a result many Marvel fans went to see the follow up movie and had no idea what had happened from the last movie to the new movie. I believe this affects the movie's success at the theaters. I know it frustrated me and other Marvel fans.

The story is good. It plays off an arch story from the Avengers comics and mini series published a few decades ago in the comic. They did a much better job of telling the story.

What makes this so unique and so enjoable is that they present it like older television series. The first was actually filmed in black and white and infront of a live studio audience. It felt like the Dick Van Dyke Show. Then the next episode moved forward and felt like an epiusode of I Dream of Jeannie. Then came the Brady Bunch era. It was followed by Who's the Boss format. Each episode moved you forward through the history of television because Wanda had grown up and loved television. It is a masterpiece. I just think Disney should consider making these available to the non-Disney Plus population a lot sooner so you can enjoy the movies connected to them.
